Day 31 - Happy New Year!

I hope you all have a fabulous and safe New Years Eve tonight! My plans are pretty low key but thats ok, as long as I get to wear my new glittery pumps and have awesome sparkly nails I'm happy! I am really looking forward to 2012, already a month into my blog project and I am getting so much love from all you! I promise during the next 11 months I will try my hardest to bring you exciting new designs. I know it will be tough to come up with ideas every day so please if you would like to see anything specific, leave your ideas in the comment area or fire me an email

Now on to the nail art...This design is on the same theme as yesterday, I wanted to paint a champagne bottle with the cork popping, with a simple happy new year. After a month of using sparkly, festive nail polishes I wanted to pull out one of my favorite neon polishes. After I painted the nails I was craving more bright so out came the turqoise and hot pink. Since it is New Years I had to add a little sparkle, So I went in and added a little glitter over the writing and I painted the champagne spray in a sparkly silver. To finish it off I added some random clear opal hexagon glitters to fill up the open space (in the photo the show up red)

Day 30 - Cheers to the freaken' weekend

I drink to that, yeah-e-yeah. When I started painting my cheers nails, I instantly had Rhianna stuck in my head, so I decided to go with it. LOL! It's the day before all the big parties and I wanted to start off the weekend with this super cute design. I first chose the color (Bubbly) and got instant inspiration of people toasting champagne. So to keep it symmetrical, I painted Cheers over the middle three finger and hands toasting champagne on the thumb and pinkie. I found the hands a little tricky because I was sticking to just a couple colors but I think it ended up turning out great.

Day 29 - Time Square

When I was thinking of different New Years designs I knew I wanted to do a Time Square scene. A few years ago I was lucky enough to go to New York for New Years Eve to watch the ball drop, it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The combo of all the glittery confetti and fireworks in the sky was what I liked the most so that is what I wanted to portray. I will let you know before I go on, I am a little disappointed how these look in the photo, I think there was a little too much sparkle for my iPhone. Please believe me, they look a lot better in person.

I painted an all over sparkle on the nail for the confetti and painted in the fireworks with striping paint. I then went in and painted in the buildings. In order to fit the ball on the tower I painted it over two fingers. for all the lights on the ball I covered it in different color crystals. To finish it off I painted all the little details and added some highlighting with a silver paint

Day 28 - Countdown to 2012

I love this design, I did something very similar last year on a couple clients and it was a big hit. This year I added in the pocket watch, which I think is too cute! I love this color, not sure if you can even get it anymore but it is fabulous, with even one coat you get a full coverage glitter. I'm not usually one to wear gold but it does pick up other colors which I really like.

For the nail art, I used hot pink, purple and blue striping paint and painted in fireworks, for the most part they are covered up so I just quickly painted them in as a background of random stripes and dots. After that I painted the white and silver parts and finisshed it off with the black detail. If I could paint my right hand this good, I would definitely be rocking these nails on New Years Eve.

Day 27- Confetti

This is day one of my New Years nails, I'm starting off with a pretty basic design but I promise, I have some really cute ones coming!

First off I pressed silver foil bits into the wet nail polish on the tip of the nail. I then went in and randomly added pieces of multicolored clear hexagon glitter (I think that's what it is called). With blue and purple striping paints I drew in individual confetti streamers in different little curly shapes, like they are falling from the sky. Once dry I went over the streamers with matching glitter paints, to make them look a little more festive. To finish it off I did a little outlining to help them pop. As I said before this design is pretty simple but definitely suitable for any New Years Party

Day 26- Holiday Bling

I hope you all don't feel as lazy and overfed as I do today! This is a super easy design. I bought this light pink sequin top to wear on Christmas and of coarse I had to have a fabulous pink rhinestone mani to match! As simple as it looks there was lots of layers involved. First I applied gel polish in a two tone fade (using a champagne and glittery pink) then Instead of applying top gloss I painted a coat of soft pink glitter polish over the tip and finished it off with a large crystal in each corner with small crystals wrapping around the side of the nails. In the picture you can see my top in the background, They matched perfectly, I was quite pleased.

Day 25- Santa and his Reindeer

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! This one is going to be short just because I am posting from my car on my way to Christmas dinner. I hope you are all having a wonderful Holiday! I am looking forward to move on to new years nail art, I hope you like those designs just as much!!! Thank you for following and all the great feedback I have received, I truly appreciate it!

Today's design is Santa, Rudolph and the other eight reindeer, pretty self explanatory. This picture was taken in the salon so the lighting is a little off, but you get the idea.

Day 24 - Twas The Night before Christmas

As a child I always loved the poem by Clement Clarke Moore "Twas The Night Before Christmas" So for Christmas eve, I saw no other design more suiting. The poem is quite long so here is just the first four verses in which I based my nail design

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer."

I wasn't sure if the sugar plums he was referring to was the fruit itself or sugar plumb Fairies. To be honest I went with sugared plumbs just because it was easier to paint in the small space, either way I think it looks cute. My favorite part of the design is the reindeer wrapping over the two nails, I just wished I had left a little more roon for the sleigh.

Day 23 - Christmas Decorations

Happy Friday everyone!! With only a couple more sleeps left, I am limited on which christmas designs I get to do. Today's nail art is a random collection of christmas decorations. I had a bunch of different ideas and I decided to wrap them all into one design. My favorite is the snow globe and nutcracker

Polish: China Glaze Red Pearl

Day 22 - Gingerbread

This is my Gingerbread design. I'll be honest it did not turn out as perfect as I had hoped but still I think its kinda cute.  I have tons of bullion beads in all sorts of colors in my nail art kit and I thought it was about time I attempted to use them, I decided I wanted to do some christmas cookies where the bullion beads could be used as dragees on the cookies. I ended up going with gingerbread because they are my favorite christmas cookie. And what is cuter than a little gingerbread town at christmas time

Day 21 - Old Man Winter

For the first day of winter I new I wanted to go with the theme of Old Man Winter blowing his frozen wind. Originally I was suppost to do water marbling swirled on the four nails for the wind, But that turned out to be a horrible messy failure. Definitely not as easy as it is made out to be. So I completely changed my design, First I painted the character and sponged white paint for snow and glitter over the polish for a frosty look, the design just took off from there, It's one of those things were you just keep adding more and more and I could not be happier with the out come.

Polish: China Glaze Bahamian Escape. I didn't look at the name of the polish until I was done but thought it was pretty Ironic that it was the perfect blue for my winter nails

Day 20 - Hanukkah Nails

First of I would like to wish all my Jewish Clients, Friends and Blog followers a Happy Hanukkah! Today is the first night of the festival of lights and I wanted to do some Hanukkah nails for this celebration.

I painted this design using silver striping paint. I then went in and and  added the white accents and outlined with black paint to add more detail. I'm pretty happy with how these turned out, I especially like the Menorah on the 3 fingers, I think it looks pretty cool.

Day 19 - Sequins and Candy Canes

This started off as a basic french in my two all time favorite Christmas colors snowsicle and ruby pumps.  I then placed little green sequins along the french edge and it still needed something more so I added polymer clay candy canes to each nail. This design looks pretty simple but believe me placing each sequin is very tedious. I love 3D nail art and I think this design is quite fun

Day 18 - Charlie Brown Christmas

For those of you who also had christmas parties over the weekend, you can understand why this is another late post. Not sure if anyone out there actually follows me on a daily basis. But if you do, I am sorry. I will be back on my 6:00am schedule tomorrow!

I recieved a request for Charlie Brown Christmas nails, I have no idea why I did not think of this when I was doing the other christmas cartoons, but I am just happy I got to paint these. Overall I think they are a sucess, possibly one of my favorites so far.

Polish: original base color was too dark (China Glaze Dorothy Who) so I painted around the characters with Orly Instant Artist Hot Blue

Day 17- Snowflakes #2

This is a late and pretty lame blog post, I'm sooo sorry!! Last night I had a party followed by a very busy day at the salon and I am now on my way to my staff party, so unfortunately this is all you get.

This polish has a fantastic sparkle, you don't even need nail art with a color like this. It is my first ever Orly polish and I really like it. Usually I'm a China Glaze girl but I think I will be picking up a few more colors. The snowflakes are just decals I got at my supplier, not very exciting but I really like the combo

December 16, 2011

Day 16 - Retro Ornaments

I love the Orly instant artist paints, In my opinion they are the best striping paints available. I have them in every color and I quite enjoy the bright ones, especially on dark gloomy days like today. The rain makes me feel depressed, so I definitely needed some color to cheer me up.

I painted the ornaments in a variety of color combos and added a different retro looking snowflake on each one. Because they were ornaments I wanted them on a nice dark green to represent the tree, unfortunately I only have the one shade of green at the moment, so I layered it over a black polish to make it a nice deep color. I love how it turned out, I would totally wear this color on its own,

Day 15 - Holly Jolly Christmas

I was at Michael's last night and I found these gorgeous swarovski crystals, and they were on sale so I just had to buy them in every color. When looking for inspiration for today's nails I decided the red crystals would make perfect holly berries. I usually do holly with a french but today I went with a solid. I'm sure you recognize the polish by now, I know I am over using it but this is such a nice holiday color. I think these nails turned out great, I just wish my camera would show how great the crystals look.

Day 14- I'm dreaming of a white christmas

For these nails I wanted to use soft wintery colors on a horizontal striped tip. I really like the color combo of the glittery base with the light creamy blue tip and metallic silver stripes. The snowflakes were created using a 3d acrylic mold. I love these molds! you just put in a little acrylic and after a few seconds you have perfect 3d art, they make my life so much easier. After the snowflakes were made and applied the nails still needed a little bit more, so I went in with my dotting tool and finished up the design. I really like these nails and think they will be quite popular over the winter

Day 13 - Santa's elves

12 more days till Christmas, which means I have to come up with 12 more festive designs. Today's design is some Christmas elves and presents. Not sure where the inspiration came for these ones, maybe it was all cheesy Christmas movies I watched over the weekend, who knows. This is definitely not my favorite design but I think they turned out pretty cute

Day 12 - Christmas Lights

This is the first year I have not decorated within the first week of December,  here we are on December 12th already and I don't even have my lights up yet. All day yesterday this was bugging me so of coarse when it came to do my nail design, Christmas lights were on the brain. I really liked the color combo of the silver and blue on day 9 so I decided to use the silver again and paint a diagonal red french tip, I find silver base makes the metallic really pop.

Day 11- Angry Birds Seasons

I love these nails!!! I did a set of Angry Birds nails a few months back and I enjoyed doing them so much I had to do them again, just this time I did Angry Birds Seasons for Christmas.  I love this app and Icould not be happier with how these turned out

Day 10 - Under the Mistletoe Justin Bieber Nails

Before I even start, I know a lot of you are going to hate on me for doing this design, but for those of you who share my Bieber love this is for you! lol! I personally cant get enough of his new Christmas CD Under the Mistletoe, so I decided I had to dome some Justin Bieber nail art for the holidays. This one is a bit of a mix, the mistletoe, heart and writing are hand painted , I did the JB in some green sequins I found in my nail kit and the picture of Justin is a water slide decal I printed and cut out. I hate doing white nail polish, but I had to go with the theme of the CD cover so there was no choice. Well hope you (or at least some of you) like it!

Day 9 - Blue Christmas

I pulled my Christmas decorations out today and I was inspired by my blue and silver ornaments. After doing some pretty crazy designs this week I wanted to go with something a little more basic and wearable, this is a great look for any holiday party. Originally I had started off with a completely different idea in my head, but after applying the two colors I loved the combo of  the two metallics so much I decided to just finish it off with some crystals

Day 7- How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Again I'm sticking with my theme of classic christmas cartoons and I think I definitely left the best for last! I am sooo excited how this turned out, I dont want to take it off :( But I know with a busy day ahead of me, there is no way this will last.

Day 5 - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

As a child one of my favorite christmas movies was the classic Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, Even today my tree is decked out with ornaments of these characters.

I have wanted to give this design a try for awhile now. A couple of the characters did not turn out as good as I had hoped, but overall I feel pretty good about my first try at this.

Polish: China Glaze Love Marilyn, you can't really tell in the photo but this color is amazing!!! Actually the whole Eye Candy collection is gorgeous, the perfect shades for any holiday party

Day 4 - A Christmas Cardinal

While searching google for christmas inspiration, I came across an article on christmas cardinals, it said that reason why so many people hang red cardinals on their tree is because it will bring good luck for the following year. I decided because I have commited to this blog for an entire year, I will definitely need some luck, so I painted a cardinal on my nail. To make it wintery I added the snow covered huckleberry tree

Polish: China Glaze Bahamian Escape

Day 3 - Candy Cane Print

I did this one on myself, my acrylics are super short right now and I thinkthis design looks super cute on short nails. I like the candy cane print because it is simple but bold.

Polish: China Glaze white on White with a coat of zoya snowsicle

Day 2 - Polar Bear and Penguin

I really enjoyed doing this set, my Client came up with the idea of a polar bear and a penguin, I decided to add in the scarves, toque and earmuffs just to make it a little more festive

Day 1 - Snowflakes

Here we go...the first day of my blog project and there is no better time than Dec 1st to start. December is the busiest month for nail art as  most clients like to let loose over the holidays, even some of my more conservative clients cannot resist the glitter and fun that the holiday brings.

My first post is a pretty basic snowflake design with some added swirls accents. Snowflakes are my most requested design over the winter, so I thought it would be a good one to start with.
